I am so glad to have my sewing area back. For those who don't know we moved last month and it has been a ver long process getting settled. We are almost there now.

This is a sling I sewed for charity. All proceeds from it's sale go the the family of Samuel Backus http://samuelbackus.com/Samuel.html, a young boy who lost his fight with cancer. It's a reversible silk duponi with aplliques and reversible. The 5 appliques represent each member of the Backus family minus Samuel. There is one applique up on the shoulder. This represents that even though he isn't with them he is still there watching over them. The other side is a more traditional accent.






And this is a German soft worven wrap that I converted into a Mei Tai. it has 3 layers of wrap in the body, I used bartack for the straps (thought I'd try it) and 2 layers of Warm and natural in the top staps and at the waist of the bottom. Over all for the quick carry I give it a 10 for comfort and ease. I can see a new obsession starting. Here are the pics. : for ref. DD is almost 16 pounds and 26 inches ds is 30 pounds about and huge!

Another much needed update. Let me say my new White sewing machine has left this house. I hated it. I had a mini sewing breakdown 2 weeks ago while I was trying to sew my first cloth diaper. Told Luc I was going to throw the machine out the window. I was having issues with the bobbin underneath getting all jammed and knotted up. I knew it wasn't something I was doing wrong and the machine was all threaded correctly and the tension was fine. Luc agreed to take it in. We were very lucky that when we went in the old owner of the store was there. She sat down with the machine and my poor sad diaper and tried to sew. It took her a couple of minutes to figure out what was wrong, but I was right it wasn't something I was doing. Turns out the walking foot was causing my machine to loose tension. I decided I wanted to return it and we used the money towards a wonderful new machine. :D It's a Pfaff. We got a bit of a deal on it since it was the floor model which is good, b/c they are expensive. It's amazing though, like sewing through butter. Enjoy my wee model.

This is a custom sling I made for a friend. Those darn sock monkeys are so cute.

Another quick project I finished yesterday. It's a pillow case with PUL backing. I thought it would be a good thing since I use it to nurse.

Now to find the motivation to sew up a blanket for this munchkin.

Back at work today, Had to make some more nursing pads for myself. Tomorrow a cover for a cylindrical pillow and a blanket for the newest addition.

Baby Nugglebug Arrived on March 4th, 2006 after a long for me and difficult delivery. She is wonderful and beautiful and perfect and I am enjoying every minute with her. Here she is in her Pod that I made just for her. She is 10 days old here.

A Mei Tai

I am so bad at blogging. But thought I'd catch you all up on the newest creations. Another picture heavy post. I have been getting ready for baby and making things for family and etsy. I actually had a long break, because my machine was giving up the ghost. I finally sold enough in my etsy shop though to replace my machine with a slightly better model and YAY it has a 3 year warranty. This is my new Machine...

An Ispy bag experiment. I need to make a few more of these so each of my kids has one for the car. A very popular toy.

A skirt that inspired our matchy outfits for christmas. And the bag that I had to sew to match too. This fabric is just so fun to work with and I can't wait to create something with the blue and cream. I am thinking a changing pad and blanet for the new baby.

I needed a change of pace, because I was getting bord sewing the same kinds of things so I took some jersey knit that I had laying around and made a couple of skirts. No patterns I just winged it. I love just trying what I see in my mind.

This is a work in progress. I am making it for the baby who is due in a little over a month. It has corderoy straps lined in a layer of heavy denim for duribility and backed in a super soft velour minkee.
